20000mAH poratable jump starter review
Review
My iClever jump starter arrived on time in a package bigger than I had thought it would be. Upon opening I realized why, the unit comes in a cool, dual zippered case to keep everything in order, and the actual jump starter is bigger than it appears in the photo. This is a good thing. The case holds the starter, adapter for recharge, cable for recharge (that is heavy duty and not flimsy in the least), the jumper cables that are attatched to a smart plug-like interface that connects to the unit, and of all things a cigarette lighter adapter, which if you were stranded gives you fire. Smart. This unit also came with a 75% charge, so getting to 100% took about 30 minutes tops with the included charge adapter that plugs into any outlet.
The jump starter itself is beautiful. Yellow and black with a good heft and ridges along it's body that makes it easy to handle without fear of slipping even if your hand was gloved in the winter. There are 2 usb ports for charging your laptop, phone, tablet, etc. It also has a flashlight with 3 settings, solid beam, strobe (for protection), and S.O.S which would be a life saver in a blizzard, flood, or any natural disaster which seem to happen more and more these days.
Looking at this device I was bummed that it was just going to sit in the car in case something bad happened and I would only really see it every 3 months to top off it's charge. I was happily mistaken. Two days after I put it in the car I went to mow the lawn. We have a huge yard so we have a rider and a push for the smaller areas. The rider would not start no matter what I tried, so that meant I was going to have to do the entire yard with the push....not happy. My girlfriend heard me swearing, so came out just as I was about to start the push. "Why not try the jumper you just got" she said. Angry that I didn't think of it myself but excited to try it out, I grabbed it from the car and hooked it up.
The smart plug the jumper cables are attached to fits into the side of the unit and has 2 led lights on it. The red light will turn on and emit an audible sound if the cables are reversed(even says reversed above light) and the green light will let you know it's hooked up correctly(Says correct above light also). I hooked the cables to the battery, stepped on the mower clutch and turned the key. Started right up the first time. I was floored and relieved I wouldn't have to push the yard. Amazing. I am no longer bummed about it being in the car, this device will come in handy for many situations in the future.
I am giving this product 5 stars for quality, ease of use, and performance.
A powerful life line.
